Engagement ring shopping can be a very stressful process for any man or woman. What’s their ring size, when will you pop the question, what style will I get and will she even like it? 2020 has thrown us all into a right spin and it’s for sure one of the weirdest years I think we will ever experience in our lifetime, saying that couples are slowly getting back to the art of love and popping the question. 

Popping the question during a pandemic is the same as any other time, it can be a very stressful time for the person doing the knee bend.  We’ve compiled a helpful list of tops to help take some of the stress and pressure out of popping the question to your loved one in 2020.

1. Ensure you do your research before forking over the dosh. Engagement ring trends can change from year to year. You can start your research from simply checking out what kind of engagement rings other people are wearing. Engagement rings can go in and out of fashion in months so choosing the ring can be big business. Saying that, just because it’s in style to say wear a big three stone diamond ring, but your partner doesn’t wear rings and you know they won’t like it, so this factor must also be taken into account. You can chat to the jeweller and explain their likes and dislikes and they can suggest something suitable. 
2. Don’t go shopping at the weekends or school holidays, shopping at weekends means it will be busier and you may have less time to shop in peace. You will get more one on one with the jeweler on quieter days. If you work a conventional Monday to Friday 9 to 5 job, try booking a day off so you can hit the shops on that morning. We also had that you shouldn’t go on school holidays but 2020 has completely thrown that up in the air with the schools closing. 
3. Don’t panic buy in the first shop you go into. Take your time, don’t buy the first ring you see, take your time, visit a number of Jewellers so you can make the best possible decision. 
4. Ask their friends and family what kind of ring they think she will like, they know her best and can show you some advice on the best ring for her. 
5. Make sure you don’t leave it hidden somewhere she might find it. This is the worst and will ruin your big surprise and plans that you have for popping the big question.
