Tips For Brides & Grooms
We’ve been to lots of weddings in our time and had my own wedding plus wrote many blogs about weddings for a long time so we know a thing or two about things that can go wrong at a wedding. For this reason, we bring you the best advice and 20 brutal and honest tips for brides & grooms in the run-up to their big day.
WHATS THE TIPS THEN??
1. Just because it’s a wedding tradition doesn’t mean you have to include it in your wedding. If it doesn’t sit well with you don’t include it in your day, there is no rule or law that says you need. It’s your wedding, your paying the bill so do what you think is right for you and your partner.
2. We’re in Ireland so face it, the chances of rain on the day of your wedding are high, even if you set the date in Summer. The day will still be a wonderful one and you’ll have the best time of your life come rain or shine. Try not to get upset if the sky’s do open up on your day, smile and be happy that your wedding day has finally come.

3. Spend that little bit extra time you have researching the wedding band, wedding bands can make or break a wedding. You’ve been to a wedding where the dance floor is never empty and people are having a great time, but we’ve also been to weddings where the floor is empty and it’s a bummer. No one wants their wedding day to be like this so get a good wedding band. Go see them play at a real-life wedding, this is the best research you can do after referrals.
4. Long trails on a dress and veils are super pretty but be prepared to be annoyed when people stand on them. A good tip is to have a loop on your dress that your trail can be tied up on, this is great when it comes time to hit the dance floor.
5. Get a videographer, we know this can seem like an expensive thing to add onto your ever-growing wedding bill but trust us, you’ll regret it if you don’t get on. They are great for capturing the speeches and a great investment that will allow you to enjoy your wedding for years and years.
6. Don’t give the groom or groomsmen too many jobs, you’ll only be disappointed. We know the jobs should be shared and he should pull his weight when it comes to the big day but don’t give them too many jobs on the big day, they may not do them or do them how you want them to. The less you rely on people the better, your day will go better once you know you have either done it or had a team of reliable woman around you.
7. This leads me onto the next tip, bridesmaids. Choose them wisely as they will be the woman you turn to in your moments of need on the run-up to the wedding and the big day
8. Remember to stand up straight when taking pictures. A great thing to do is to practice smiling and standing before the wedding. This may sound crazy but you’ll thank us later. No one wants to look back at the wedding pictures and cringe, there is no redo here so get it right the first time.
9. Get a good makeup artist and hair stylist. You would think we wouldn’t need to say this but some people do try and do their own makeup and hair on the wedding day. This is your day and all eyes on you so best leave it to a professional. If you’re having a wedding near winter and the wind is high, maybe you should think about having your hair in an up style. This is the best option and will stop you having to pull your hair out of your face all day.
10. Remember to get all the family and friend pictures earlier in the day before you either forget or they get a little worse for wear!
